It’s been a while since I’ve done a review as nowhere has really stood out to me recently. That was until something very new and unique came to the small town of Stony Stratford, in Milton Keynes. French Affaire is a recent addition to Stony tucked away in O’Dells Yard. Although it is slightly hidden away, this French Restaurant/Creperie is not to missed!
French Affaire has only recently opened its doors to Stony Stratford fairly recently. It’s honestly been one of the best places to go to brunch that we have found in such a long time! It’s a change from your standard eggs benedict and has plenty of options for everyone, with any taste! Sweet or savoury, there are so many dishes to try, I’d honestly struggle to get bored of this place.
The interior is something you’d expect in a high end, expensive cafe in London. It’s beautifully decorated with greenery along the walls, chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, and is decorated with a gorgeous centrepiece. The furniture is perfectly placed and the colours make for a picture perfect location for a coffee date/brunch or lunch.
If you’ve ever had a savoury crepe in France you can appreciate how simple yet delicious they are. French Affaire does not disappoint in bringing that taste to Milton Keynes. The savoury crepes range from the traditional ham/bacon, cheese and egg as they do in France, to brunch favourites of eggs Benedict or Florentine. If you want to try something different there’s roast veg and goats cheese, chicken breast, peppers and cheese and falafel and hummus- and this is only to name a few! The price ranges from £7-7.50. Incredibly reasonable for the quality you get! The side salad is also refreshing, dressed with lemon juice and adds a crunch and a bit of balance to the savoury crepe.
If you have more of a sweet tooth (many of us are guilty of this, including me) there are as many sweet options to choose from too! There’s a simple Nutella crepe which can extend to a chocolate lovers dream of a Ferrero Rocher Extravagance! Trust me that one does not disappoint either! For something more fruity there’s a Banoffee Pie crepe, a Raspberry and Pistachio Eton Mess and Apple Tatin. If you’re ordering an Apple Tatin there’s an impressive surprise which comes along with it too, which I won’t spoil! Again, the flavours were flawless. I ordered the Apple Tatin which was a beautiful balance of spiced cinnamon apple and a sweet biscuit crumb. The sweet crepes vary between £6-7.
If you’re not a crepe person there are baguettes and some other French dishes available too, The full menu is on the facebook page if you want to take a look further.
You can enjoy your food with a range of drinks whether that be a brunch tipple of prosecco or if you fancy a health kick (alongside your chocolate covered crepe) there are loads of smoothies to try.
French Affaire has recently become my most recent love affair. I’ve been twice in the past 3 weeks and I already want to go back to try some more. I personally think that speaks volumes. It’s safe to say this is currently my new favourite food location in the area and would recommend anyone and everyone to go and see what it’s all about.
