This must be my first post in about a month! Unfortunately, I have been traveling pretty much every week for work for the past couple of months, which means any free time I do have I need to sort my life out, catch up with Chris or sleep. But finally, this weekend I felt I had time to do what I love best- bake!
Chocolate Fondants are irresistible chocolate puddings with melted molten chocolate in the middle which are usually drizzled with a bit of cream or some ice cream. Most restaurants tend to have them on their dessert menu and Guu makes a delicious version of them too. Nonetheless, making them from scratch at home is far more satisfying and in fact cheaper. They taste even better than ones you buy and have the added value of knowing you made them yourself.
This weeks bake is Red Velvet Cupcakes- something which I personally have never done before. Not only this, but there was another challenge involved for me this week- I had to make 36 of them for my lovely friend’s surprise Birthday. Read on to find out how it went and to get the recipe for these delicious cakes, which are easier than they look!
This Coffee Date has gone abroad! I spent a week in Prague with my boyfriend and although I was going to do a specific bakery or cafe I decided to instead, review one of the most popular desserts/street food sold in the city. I’m sure many of you have seen them on Instagram or maybe you have no idea what I’m about to talk about, either way, by the end, you will have a much better idea of what they are and what you can expect! I will also give some tips about Prague in general! Continue reading “The Coffee Date Series #12: The Trdelnik, Prague”
These weeks bake is one for those who are trying to balance eating well whilst still treating yourself to something yum. These muffins are full of flavour but still only have 200 calories in them each and are low in fat. A little naughty treat without feeling too much of a guilt. I don’t know about anyone else but that is exactly what I needed!
This week I had my first request from someone to make a cake for an event. It is for one of my close friend’s Mum’s birthday and is the first time someone other than my Mum has asked me to do a bake for them. No pressure! The challenge was that it had to be gluten-free as well. This is something I have never done before but I took it on, and the results were just what I wanted!
So, bad news, my piping bag broke! I was so gutted as I was really determined to nail the icing on these cupcakes. I was just about to start when I found there were holes in the bag. Safe to say it was a little messy with chocolate buttercream squirting out random holes when I was trying to get it out onto the cake. Nonetheless, this weekend was a special occasion- I met the other bridesmaids for my brother’s wedding. It was a lovely afternoon and, as always, when there’s a reason to celebrate I thought I would bring some baked goods.
